Meds and Supplements

I once had a conversation with a colleague. We were talking about how supplements and dietary medicines are popping in the market like mushrooms. He said, these types of medicines may have serious consequences – like people using non-studied medications instead of the studied and approved ones.

Somehow, I disagree with him. Although yes, there are a lot of these supplements like liver aid and hgh supplement for example, we cannot deny that many of the approved medicines came from herbal supplements before they were proven by science. Sometimes, the medical society is afraid of the unkown.

Mom’s Face Cream

When I went to New York, my mom wanted one thing – her face cream. She had always wanted to have a bottle each time someone travels abroad.

I really don’t know what type of face cream she needs. I don’t even know which brand or type is the best eye cream for wrinkles. In any case. a lot of these creams are not that inexpensive. And sometimes, I tend to deprioritize buying them because of that.

Oh well, I guess sometimes, if you have the luxury you can buy one. But for my case during the business trip to NY, I didn’t get one. Sorry mom, I’ll get you a lot of figurine collectibles instead :)

Thinking of Getting a New Job?

After college, there is always that hype of getting a job for the first time. It’s a challenging task, I would say. And getting the best job isn’t all about how hard working you are as a student. It takes more than that a lot of times.

Sometimes, you need to have the right attitude. You need to know when to pursue and when to save your time. You also need to know of course what you are getting into. Many websites like jobstreet or philly work can actually help you with this stuff. It is very important to know more about the company you want to be part in because work is not just about you. A lot of times its about what the company needs from you and whether you are the right person for the job.

In any case, everyone knows hard work. And I guess that’s what really matters in applying or in having a job.

Our Own Patio

Each time I see a magazine with house designs, I remember my mom and how she wanted our house to be. She always dreamed of having our own garden (which we have), a second floor with a balcony and a nice, cozy patio where she can sit all afternoon till evening.

Of course, to have a nice patio, you need to have nice patio furniture as well. I was thinking before of a wooden swing where the neices and nephews can enjoy. and a wooden table perhaps where dad can place his cup of coffee.

I think it’s really nice to have that someday.

Car and Its Costs

Many of my friends and family ask me why I won’t get a car – even if the company is offering a huge discount if I get one. The reason – I don’t want to work for a car :) I mean, with my expenses here in the big city, having a car is the least of my priorities for now.

To make up for it, I chose to get an apartment close to the office. This way, I won’t have that much problem going to and from the office. Besides, most of my days are spent there.

Aside from paying the car itself, I know it has more costs to it than what meets the eye. There’s parking fee, maintenance and insurance. Better find a good but cheap insurance to let you save and have good bang for your buck.

What Worked for Me

There are a lot of diet programs you can find around the net. Try searching and for sure you’ll find a lot of approaches and techniques. Sites like Fit for Life or www.dietsthatwork.net are just to name a few.

For me, what really worked was approx. 45 mins of high speed treadmill coupled with weight training. I was beginning to gain weight then due to my unhealthy lifestyle. I was approx. 10 hours in the office everyday and no excercise at all.

Good thing, a lot of my officemates are into physical fitness. The compay also encourages it by providing us discounts to gyms and other sports facilities.

Party Like Home

One thing I missed when I moved to the big city are barbeque parties with friends and family. It’s always nice cooks outside the house, in the garden where the kids can run around while you smell that nice, appetizing smoke of grill. Then, as everything is ready, we give thanks and enjoy the food as well as each other’s company.

Now, most of the stuff for cooking are automatic. From ovens to electric grill , everything in the big city must be available in an instant to cope up with time. It’s not a luxury out here – it’s a necessity. Living a run-run life needs to have tools and equipments that help you run along with time.

Old PCs

I remember one time buying a video card for my girlfriend’s pc. The unit was acting weird and the display was terrible. It had colors going around the screen like a pirated movie. So I went to check the CPU and found a burned part of the video card.

Sometimes, the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty. Very true especially if you are dealing with computers. It makes you understand how stuff work – from the inside.

Nowadays, laptops are getting more and more handy and affordable than desktops. The problem with it though is that it is usually more difficult to upgrade and repair yourself. Well, that’s of course the trade-off when you go for convenience over capability.

Mobile Learning

The world has changed so much. It has evolved thousand folds of its old self for the past 50 years I would say. Chanes are exponential – technology, science and even education.

The world has so much knowledge already. Check the internet – there is information sharing everywhere. Geographical boundaries are no longer barriers to learning. Nowadays, many enroll in a reliable online university to learn new skills, accreditation and, for some, to simply expand their knowledge.

In this aspect, technology has truly been more a friend than a foe.
